Bhaderwah is a town in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. It is located on the foothills of middle Himalaya at an elevation of 5,295 feet. It is predominately a mountainous region that offers excellent opportunities for adventure tourism. The town is endowed with unmatched beauty of nature with picture perfect sceneries, keeping your camera busy! The mountain streams and green lush meadows are so inviting, which is why it is named as ‘Mini Kashmir’. The town of Bhaderwah is dotted with temples and pilgrimages sites such as Vasuki Nag Temple, Kailash Kund making it a sacrosanct pilgrimage site among the devoted Hindu followers. Various colorful local fairs, festivals and unique mosaic culture add to the richness of this place. This unexplored paradise of the Jammu & Kashmir is yet to get global recognition for its immense tourism potentials. Thanks to Internet, many tourists now know about Bhaderwah and ask to visit here by name. Almost everyone who visits even once, returns back satisfied.

Bhaderwah Destinations

Chinta Valley

A crowned summer destination, Chinta Valley is also known as the Green Bowl as it is surrounded by Black Forests. This scenic valley is 25 kms off Bhaderwah and the entire drive is beautiful and enchanting to say the least. Standing tall at 6,500 feet it has thick coniferous forests on all sides and the Chinta Nallah flowing through it.

Jai Valley

Jai Valley is one of the most beautiful valleys of Doda, situated at a distance of about 35 km from Bhaderwah. The meadow extends over 6 km, and the 7,000 feet height makes the climate conducive for many sporting activities. Jai Valley offers nice “igloo huts” to the tourists visiting the Bhaderwah town making it an ideal holiday destination. Many visitors also bring their gear and erect tents for days’ altogether and enjoy the frequently changing weather. The tourists take pleasure in horse-riding and trekking alongside the blue streams pouring in from the mountains.

Seoj Meadow

Seoj Meadow is situated 10 km from Bhaderwah and the journey is possible only on horseback. The whole track is serene, breathtaking and awesome; you won’t crib about the 5 hours needed to reach there. The long stretches of green grass lands stretch into miles and the cool air and serene environs appear heavenly.
Paragliding Paragliding is the special attraction at Seoz and is feasible throughout the year except the wet season. Different areas of the town are used for flight; on the basis of level of expertise in paragliding. Seoj Meadow at 11,000 feet is an excellent spot for basic and intermediate flyers.
Trekking Options A favourite trek starts from Bhaderwah to Seoj which extends further to Kailash Kund and then to Nalthi Village via Ramtund. This trek totals 30 km and is very grueling for many. It is supposed to be completed in 3 days and 2 nights with night halts at Seoj and Ramtund.

Padri

Padri is an undulating landscape located at a distance of 40 km from Bhaderwah on Chamba road. Perched at an elevation of 10,500 feet, Padri is the highest point on this road and experience heavy rainfall upto 5 meters during winter days. It is one of the popular picnic spots of Bhaderwah region. The vast landscape runs in kilometers and is ideal for adventure sports like Snow-skiing in winters and Paragliding in summers. It is the highest Pass on Bhadarwah Chamba National Highway and the tourists feel extremely delighted reaching there.

Vasuki Naag Temple

When in Bhaderwah tourists should not miss the Vasuki Naag Temple, a wonder of art and sculpture. Located just 3 km from the city center, it has twin idols of Raja Jamute Vahan and Naagraj Vasuki, made up of black stone. Both idols are standing at 87 degrees for years without any additional support. Despite many earthquakes and geographical changes the idols are steady and this adds to the mystique to this shrine and with every passing year, the number of devotees keeps increasing.

Gupt Ganga

The Gupta Ganga Temple stands to the East of Bhaderwah, located just 0.5 km from the bank of Neru River. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva but it is also known for its mention in Mahabharata. Here a stone inside the temple has a clear footprint on it and believed to be of Bhima.
