Patnitop

Patnitop is the most popular tourist spot of Jammu region. Located 112 kms from Jammu this famous hill resort is perched on a beautiful plateau, at an altitude of 2024 metres across which the Jammu-Srinagar Highway passes.
It has lush green meadow and pine trees which resembles with Gulmarg. Patnitop offers beautiful picnic spots, peaceful walks and breathtaking views of the mountains cape of the Chenab basin. In winter, it is covered with a white carpet of snow and its slopes have been successfully experimented for skiing. Skiing courses are conducted at Patnitop in the months of January and February. During winter months there are introductory courses for tourists / beginners at gentle gradient slopes of Patnitop. At Madhatop (5/6 Kms from Patnitop on Sanasar Road) excellent possibilities for all kind of skiing exist. Skiing equipments and wooden sledges are available on hire at Patnitop and Sanasar. For beginners Instructors are also available. Accommodation is also available at Patnitop Hotels.

Mubarkh Mandi Palace

Mubarak Mandi Palace, is an exemplary complex of the royal leagues. It takes credentials for taking one back in time. The complex is believed to be constructed in the 19th century and the oldest building dates back to 1824. A unique mixture of Mughlai, Rajput, Rajasthani and couple of more architectural style can be distinctively witnessed. The palace overlooks the Tawi River and thus offers a picturesque setting as well. The Pink Hall remains the main attraction of the palace for visitors, as it displays a splendid collection of paintings and sculptures.

Bagh-e-Bahu

Bagh-e-Bahu is a famous terraced garden built around the Bahu Fort in the city of Jammu. This picturesque garden is characterized by sparkling waterfalls, sprawling lawns, artificial lake, attractive flower beds, appealing fountains and trees. It is situated 5 km away from Jammu city center on the left bank of Tawi River.

Bahu fort is the oldest fort in Jammu city, was originally built by Raja Bahu Lochan over 3000 years ago. Inside, there is a temple dedicated to the Hindu goddess Kali. It is a favorite picnic spots for the locals and tourists alike. Mini buses and auto-rickshaws are the common modes of the transportation to reach the Bahu Fort and Bagh-e-Bahu Garden.

Bahu Fort

Displaying the glory of the bygone era, Bahu Fort is amongst the most spectacular monuments in India. Built by Raja Bahulochan about 3,000 years ago, the fort is appreciated for its marvelous architecture. Terrace gardens and waterfalls in the premises are the prominent features along with Maha Kali Temple (Bawey Wali Mata). Taking into account its mystical powers, it stands second only to Vaishno Devi in popularity.
A terraced garden known as 'Bagh-e-Bahu' has been developed in side the fort complex to attract more visitors. The fort is just 5 kms from the city centre.

Amar Mahal Palace

Amar Palace, once the residence of the Maharajas is a grand palace with a magnificent look.The structure boasts of magnificent architecture inspired by the Grand Chateaus of France. Most portions of the mansion have been converted into a museum and it also treasures a well-stocked library. It also houses the city’s finest library of antique books and paintings.
It is considered the pride of the Dogra dynasty, Amar Mahal Palace was constructed under the reign of Raja Amar Singh. An entire series of miniatures on the epic Nal-Damayanti can be seen in the museum. The museum remains open from Tuesday to Sunday and entry is based on tickets.

Mansar Lake

The Mansar lake near Jammu city is one of the most famous adventure tourism destinations in India. Mansrover, is also called as 'Mansar'. The Mansar lake is about 20 km from National Highway No. 1A. Road to Mansar Lake starts from just near Samba on National Highway No. 1A.
Mansar lake, with its length more than a mile and width half-a-mile, is a very attractive lake in the midst of lusting greeneries surrounded by forest-covered hills. It is considered as a very holy site known from mythological periods sharing the sanctity and legacy of Mansa Sarovar. It is a very popular base of tourists. A temple for a snake god, Sheshnag, is located on the banks of lake. It is believed that it is auspicious for newly wed couples to seek blessings of Sheshnag by performing three parikarma around the lake.

Surinsar Lake

Surinsar Lake is known for its natural bounty and some mythological importance.The lake appears like a lotus garden in summers. Surrounded by thickly wooded mountain ranges and it is a popular picnic spot. The beauty and natural splendor of Surinsar Lake can be compared with the magnificence of Dal Lake and Nagin Lake of Srinagar. Surinsar Lake and Mansar Lake are considered to be twin lakes; Mansar is located 30 km away from it.
The Surinsar Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary is nestled in the midst of both the lakes and supports 3 mammalian species and 15 avifauna species including crane. According to Hindu mythological legends, the origin of the lake is closely associated with the legendary warrior of Mahabharat, Arjun. It is said to believe that Arjun shot an arrow in to the Mansar and a spring gushed of the earth and now it is known as 'Surinsar Lake'.
